Volunteers are an essential part of OHAAT’s Beds for Kids program. They are responsible for sorting bedding and bedtime items, and delivering them with beds to the homes of children in need.

OHAAT holds two types of volunteer events—groundwork events and delivery events.

Groundwork Events

Groundwork Events are the foundation of our Beds for Kids program. They can include activities like sorting bedding, packaging books, or sewing pillowcases. Our location or yours – either is possible! For more information, contact Chrissy at 267-607-3456 or chrissy@ohaat.org.

Delivery Events

Delivery events are held several times each week and involve volunteers transporting beds, bedding, and bedtime necessities from OHAAT’s storage facility in Huntingdon Valley to the homes of children in need. Events typically last 3-1/2 hours and can accommodate up to 8 volunteers.* Check out our list of Frequently Asked Questions.

Individuals and Families

Individuals and families make up a core group of OHAAT’s volunteers. Delivery Events offer parents the opportunity to teach their kids about the importance of service.*

Student and Community Groups

OHAAT partners with all kinds of student and community groups, including high school sports teams, service clubs, and church congregations. Gather a group of up to 6 volunteers, and we’ll schedule a Delivery Event just for you!

Delivery Events are a great opportunity for students to serve and see the impact of their service first-hand. They’ll learn about the importance of sleep, why children in the Beds for Kids program can’t get enough of it, and then they’ll take action to solve the problem!

Delivery Events are also ideal for service-oriented groups like church congregations. If you’re looking for a mission where members can regularly volunteer, we’re happy to schedule events for you as often as once per month.

Corporate Groups

Do you have an employee volunteer program at your workplace? Gather a group of 4 to 8 employees, and we’ll schedule a Delivery Event just for you! Your employees will test their team-building skills while making a difference in the community!

*Volunteers must be at least 11 years old to participate in Sorting Events and at least 14 years old to participate in Delivery Events. Any child under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult and bring this completed Release Form with them to their first volunteer event.
