What is Sleep Awareness Month?

March is Sleep Awareness Month, a celebration of sleep! It’s a time to emphasize the crucial connection between sleep and overall health and well-being, and to encourage everyone to prioritize sleep.

Some important sleep-related days observed in March:

  • Daylight Savings Time, March 10, 2am (lose an hour of sleep-boo!)

  • Sleep Awareness Week March 10-16

  • National Dream Day and Napping Day March 11

  • World Sleep Day Friday March 15

Sleep Awareness Month is a time to prioritize and invest in sleep. Upgrade your mattress, invest in a better pillow, make sure the thermostat is set to optimal sleeping temperatures, and practice good sleep hygiene. But what about the approximately 6,000 children and youth in the Greater Philadelphia area that don’t have a bed of their own to sleep in? Children in our community who are sleeping on the floor, sofa, or crammed into one bed with their siblings?

Together, we can celebrate Sleep Awareness Month by helping children access the tools they need to get healthy sleep. Learn how.
