OHAAT depends on generous individuals and organizations to donate bedding and bedtime essentials, like books and stuffed animals.
Hosting a drive doesn’t just provide OHAAT with much-needed items. It’s one of the best ways to raise awareness about the thousands of children who go to sleep every night without proper bedding. Your business, organization, school, congregation, or community group can make a big difference by hosting a collection drive, spreading the word, and helping the Beds for Kids program gain broader support.
Check out the list of items we accept on our Donate Goods page. Once you determine which items you’d like to collect, here’s how to run a successful drive:
Spread the Word
Most people want to help: they just need to be asked. Send emails, post flyers, or use Facebook, Instagram, and other social media. Talk about the drive at meetings and group gatherings. Host a party and ask guests to bring a donated item. OHAAT can provide custom flyers and signs for your drive, or templates if you prefer to make your own.
Make it Easy to Donate
Have a central location for people to drop off their items. If you’d like to borrow collection boxes, contact the OHAAT office. You can run your drive for as short or as long as you’d like. Some drives last only a few hours, like at a sports game. Others last for a month, and still others are run year-round. You’re also welcome to host multiple drives with each targeting specific items (e.g. Sheet and Blanket Drive, Book Drive, Stuffed Animal Drive, etc.).
Deliver Your Donations to OHAAT
All donations go to OHAAT’s facility in Huntingdon Valley, which is located at 421 Pike Road, Unit 5, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. Make sure to contact the OHAAT office to schedule a delivery time. If you’d like an in-kind donation receipt for tax purposes, one will be provided at the time of delivery.
