Staff Spotlight — Emily Vaidyan

OHAAT is very pleased to introduce our new Family Referral Coordinator, Emily Vaidyan. Emily started with the Beds for Kids program in November. She currently lives in Huntingdon Valley PA with her family of 7 and her dog Roscoe. Emily recently graduated from Temple University with a degree in Public Health and is very excited to be working at OHAAT.  Learn a little bit about her here:

How did you first hear about OHAAT?

I first heard about OHAAT in October when my sister talked about wanting to volunteer here. A few days later I saw a job posting on LinkedIn for the Family Referral Coordinator position here. The position looked really interesting to me and it was cool to see how close it was to my home.

What do you enjoy most in your role as Family Referral Coordinator?

The thing I enjoy most about my role is that not everyday looks the same. I get to experience a wide variety of things here at OHAAT and I love that. I like having a small team here because I get to be so hands on in the organization and know that my work matters.

What has your favorite experience at OHAAT been so far?

My favorite experience at OHAAT has been going out on deliveries with our delivery team. It's very rewarding to see kids receiving the beds and see how happy the caregivers are to have improved sleep for their child and themselves. The most memorable delivery was our first all-women delivery where we got a flat tire but still made all the deliveries on time!

What was your favorite bedtime book to read as a child?

My favorite bedtime book to read as a child was If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff.
