Position Title: Beds for Kids Program Intern
Location: In-person, 421 Pike Rd, Unit 1, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006
Schedule: 35 hours per week
Duration: June- August
Compensation: $18/hour

About Us

One House at a Time’s (OHAAT) mission is to help families in Greater Philadelphia who are currently lacking resources to establish (or reestablish) a self-sufficient life by providing them with the necessities of a functional home environment.  We focus on ending child bedlessness to improve overall health and wellbeing. Through our Beds for Kids program, we provide children and youth living in poverty with beds, bedding, and tools that encourage healthy bedtime habits, so they can get the quality and sufficient sleep they need to thrive. In 2025, we served 3,523 children.

Position Overview

We are seeking motivated, organized, and enthusiastic college interns to join our team in a paid, full-time role for the summer. You will assist with day-to-day operations, projects, community engagement efforts, and help coordinate volunteer-driven warehouse activities. This internship offers hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector and an opportunity to gain practical skills while contributing to meaningful work. Interns may also represent OHAAT at community events and outreach opportunities. The internship is primarily scheduled during regular weekday hours; some occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to support community events, volunteer activities, or organizational needs.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with volunteer warehouse events, including organizing materials and supporting volunteers

  • Support program operations by coordinating with staff and community partners

  • Assist with communications, including emails, outreach, or social media support

  • Participate in special projects and initiatives based on organizational needs and intern interests

  • Attend team meetings and contribute ideas and insights 

  • Help with administrative tasks such as data entry, scheduling, and document organization

  • Support youth outreach and engagement efforts

  • Assist with and attend community events, tabling opportunities, and outreach activities representing OHAAT

    Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university (all majors welcome)

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

  • Ability to lift light to moderate items and stand for extended periods during warehouse events (as applicable)

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks or projects

  • Comfortable using technology and various software platforms

  • Interest in nonprofit work, social services, or community engagement preferred

  • Must pass a PA criminal background check, a PA child abuse history clearance, and an FBI fingerprinting / background check
