Intern Spotlight — Isabella and Jabriyah

This past year, OHAAT was delighted to welcome two interns from Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School: Isabella and Jabriyah. Over the course of the 2025–2026 school year, these two students immersed themselves in the Beds for Kids program, gaining valuable hands-on work experience along the way. We are so proud of everything they accomplished and grateful for the energy and dedication they brought to our team. Get to know them:

What did you hope to learn during your internship?

I: I wanted to learn time management, life-work boundaries, and what a real 9-5 would be like.

J: During my internship I wanted to learn better time management.

What has your favorite part about interning at OHAAT been?

I: My favorite experience was making bedtime bags for kids because it’s fun and I get to think about what other kids want.

J: I like being treated like a peer. I’m included in meetings, I have responsibilities, I get a present for my birthday.

What's your favorite book to read at bedtime?

I: My favorite book when I was little was The BFG by Ronald Dahl.

J: My favorite book would probably be Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli just because it’s super funny and crazy. Also somewhat confusing.

What’s your favorite class at school?

I: My favorite class at school is theology. In theology I learn about religions and history.

J: Work study certifications. They teach us about using Microsoft.

Do you know what career you would like to pursue?

I: When I grow up I want to become a registered nurse with a BA in science in nursing. My cousin is my inspiration because she worked really hard to earn her degree.

J: The career that I would like to pursue is performing arts and marine biology. There’s a college in Cape Town that I’d like to go to.

What’s your favorite TV show?

I: Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

J: Demonslayer or My Hero Academia.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I: I like to spend my free time by cleaning, making a schedule, watching TikTok, and reading.

J:  I do dance in my free time. I dance five days a week and teach 3-6 year olds on Saturday.

Who is your hero / role model?

I: My role model is my mom and some of my aunts. They’re very hard working.

J: My mother — she does so much for me and works very hard, just so that I can have any and everything.
