How did you learn about OHAAT’s Beds for Kids program?
I love to give back in any way I can and when I learned about OHAAT through one of my professors I just had to take that opportunity. At the university, we must choose where to do an internship for our last semester of college and the Beds for Kids program had been the organization I kept in mind the year before my time had started. I was looking forward to assisting the team, trying to be involved as best as I can, and helping out the kids who need beds.
What has your favorite part about interning at OHAAT been?
I was amazed at how much the organization does and how much work gets put into running a non-profit. Kate and the team each have an incredible role, and it introduced me to a whole new world of giving back to a community in need. More specifically, I enjoy bed packing and putting careful consideration into each bag. Whether it was reimbursed or basic, it is a joy to put in the work for each future delivery every week. I also enjoy making flyers and throwing ideas out there for social media content.
How has working alongside another intern shaped your experience at OHAAT?
Having another intern and working together to help the team out is amazing. When there are any setbacks with weather or other delays it is great to have both of us doing the tasks. We were more than happy making sure we helped April and other members get up to speed in the warehouse. Overall, I couldn’t recommend other interns and volunteers to come to this organization enough.
