A Future Attorney's Summer at OHAAT

This summer, OHAAT was lucky enough to have Yami Arriaza-Hernandez of Bucks County join our team as a intern — and let's just say she brought serious energy to the warehouse. Yami is a rising senior at The George Washington University, majoring in Human Services and Social Justice (HSSJ) and Anthropology. She hopes to get her Juris Doctor and become an attorney in the future. In her free time, Yami loves to go on walks/hikes, play guitar, read, paint, and spend time with her family and friends. 

How did you learn about OHAAT?

I was searching for summer internships when I came across OHAAT's internship posting. I was immediately interested and just excited to learn that there was an organization in the area dedicated to addressing child bedlessness and supporting families in such a meaningful way.

What were you looking for in an organization to intern at?

I was looking for an organization whose mission aligned with my passion for ensuring children have the resources they need to thrive. I also wanted to intern with an organization that was making a tangible impact in the community it serves, which OHAAT has and continues to do.

What has your favorite part about interning at OHAAT been?

My favorite part has been getting to know the organization from the inside. Working alongside staff and volunteers, as well as seeing how delivery days are coordinated, I've gained a deeper appreciation for everything that goes into serving families. I've met incredible people who are genuinely committed to OHAAT's mission, and their dedication has been very inspiring.

How has working alongside other interns shaped your experience?

Working alongside other interns has taught me the value of collaboration. We have been able to exchange ideas while learning from one another's perspectives.
